In 1973, LFCN (Lembaga Fotografi Candra Naya) or also known as CNPS (Candra Naya Photographic Society) organized the first Salon Foto Indonesia (SFI) in Jakarta which also became a milestone in the history for the formation of FPSI (Federation of Photographic Society of Indonesia). SFI 1973 was enthusiastically welcomed by majority of Indonesian photographers and was attended by 446 participants with a total of 1,697 photos. The SFI judging was located at Candra Naya Building while the Exhibition was placed at Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM), Jakarta on 28-30 December 1973. The exhibition was opened by Mr. H. Adam Malik who later served as a 3rd Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia from 1978-1983.

During the exhibition, dated 28-30 December 1973, the first National Conference (Munas – Musyawarah Nasional) was held and Federation of Photographic Society of Indonesia (FPSI) was formed at that time. Candra Naya Photography Society (CNPS) along together with other 7 (seven) Indonesian photography clubs, as mentioned below, were held the first FPSI National Conference:
1. PAF (Bandung)
2. PSS (Surabaya)
3. HISFA (Yogyakarta)
4. CCC (Pekanbaru)
5. BFC (Purworejo)
6. Focus (Solo)
7. SPF (Surabaya)

On the National Conference, finally all of them were agreed to established FPSI (Federation of Photographic Society of Indonesia) and also choose its management with 2 (two) years term of services before the new management will be choosen again.
Here was the first management of FPSI:

The first FPSI (Federation of Photographic Society of Indonesia) chairman, Prof. Dr. RM Soelarko, took time to issued a Certificate of Merit to CANDRA NAYA Photographic Society (CNPS) as the organizer of the 1973 INDONESIA PHOTO SALON (SFI).
